Hi Guida,

What is Windows trying to install or prepare? Have you already installed Windows 8.1?

It is very likely that a corrupt or missing device driver or Windows component is causing problems.

You can try using the Windows upgrade assistant software to check your Windows installation and use the Windows Driver Verifier tool to check the status of all your device drivers.

It is important that you tell us more about the problem, so we can offer a more specific solution.

Hi Guida,

You can use any of the below methods to resolve this issue:

Method 1:
Boot to the computer, and follow these steps to restore health:
a. Press Windows key + X,
b. Open Command Prompt(Admin),
c. Type dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and press Enter.

Method 2:
Perform system restore of your laptop:
  1. Insert the Windows 8 installation disc in the drive, and then restart the computer.
  2. When you are prompted to start from the disc, press any key.
  3. Tap or click Repair your computer.
  4. Tap or click Troubleshoot, and then tap or click Advanced options.
  5. Tap or click your version of Windows 8, tap or click System Restore, tap or click the restore point you want, and then tap or click Next.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to perform the System Restore, and when prompted, restart your computer.
I hope this helps.

Thank You!

I kept getting the blue screen with Driver Power State Failure error message and then my computer would restart. I found your product and it did not happen any more. I just purchased an anti-virus (kaspersky) and now it is doing it again. It is so frustrating. My computer is only 6 months old. It is a Asus desktop.
