Pressing F12 no longer opens the bios settings.
This happened when I upgraded RAM to 8GB today.
Tried couple of times but doesn't worked.

Hi Jacob,

Since you inserted 8 GB RAM in your PC, it is a new piece of hardware which may be interfering with the normal boot process of Windows. So, first try unplugging all devices from your computer, including:
  • Printers.
  • Scanners.
  • Media Card Readers.
  • Small Media cradles (iPod, PDA, MP3 player, etc.).
  • Digital Cameras and Video Recorders.
  • USB storage devices.
  • CDs or DVDs from all optical drives.
The only devices you should leave attached to your computer are your monitor, mouse and keyboard, if the computer is a desktop.

Now check if you are able to open BIOS settings using the below steps or not:
  1. Press and hold the Power Button for 5 seconds to turn your computer completely off.
  2. Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press the F2 key, or the DEL key if you have a desktop, to enter the BIOS.
Then change your BIOS settings to default using below steps:
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. At the logo during restart, tap the F2 key repeatedly until you see Entering Setup in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Depending on the BIOS, you may need to press a key listed at the bottom of the screen to load default settings. For example, F9 on the Inspiron N5110.
  4. Press ESC to exit the BIOS, and be sure to select Save and Exit to save your changes.
Now to change your Graphics card settings, you can reset it to default by installing it again using the below steps:

You can try the below troubleshooting steps which will solve your problem.
  1. Uninstall the graphics card driver from Device Manager.
  2. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.
  3. In Device Manager, locate the display adapter and then double-click the device name.
  4. Click the Driver tab, and then click uninstall Driver (including the driver software) and follow the instructions.
  5. Do the same in Programs and Features look for anything related to NVIDIA and uninstall it as well.
  6. Download and install the graphics card driver from NVIDIA support site
  7. Here's the link for download: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
  8. Reboot the machine (PC or laptop) once driver has been installed.
  9. After the reboot make sure that your games are set to use NVIDIA graphics card.
I hope this helps in solving the issue.

Regards,
Lokesh

Hi Jacob,

Thank you for posting your concern's here.

There are different types of methods on how to enter BIOS, depending on the brand of computer you have.

To enter the BIOS from your Windows 7, you must first shut down your computer completely.

Please use one of the following methods to access your computer BIOS.
  • F2 key method
  1. Turn your computer on.
  2. If you see a message on your screen to press the F2 key to enter Setup, press F2 quickly.
  3. The Setup screen should appear.
(If this method does not work, repeat it, but hold F2.)
  • F12 key method
  1. Turn your computer on.
  2. If you see a message on your screen to press the F12 key, press F12 quickly.
  3. Boot options should appear along with the ability to enter Setup.
  4. Using the arrow key, scroll down and select <Enter Setup>.
  5. And then press Enter.
  6. The Setup screen will appear.
(If this method doesn't work, repeat it, but hold F12.)
I hope this helps you with the BIOS issue you have.

If you have any other questions, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you.

Best Regards,

Christian
